SARAH CRAFT
Since I finished my PhD in archaeology (Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World, Brown University, May 2015), I have had appointments as the first Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in Classics at Florida State University (2015-17) and as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Classics at Carleton College (2017-18), where I divided my time between teaching and research, and spent my summers doing fieldwork for the Mazi Archaeological Project and the Timok Region Archaeological Project.
In the fall of 2018, I walked 500 miles across northern Spain along the Camino de Santiago in pursuit of my love of travel and the archaeology of pilgrimage, and spent 2019 back in Tallahassee teaching Ancient Myth: East and West at Florida State University. After a brief adventure living in the United Arab Emirates, I came back in Tallahassee, Florida to work for PaleoWest as a Senior GIS Specialist in the cultural heritage management private sector. In addition to GIS, I've focused on photogrammetric modeling, getting my remote pilot (drone) license, and combining my passion for pedagogy and public outreach with my skills in GIS and historical inquiry to author Story Maps, like the City of Montgomery Civil Rights Tour and Development and Expansion of the City of St. Augustine.
Since Fall 2021, I have put my teaching cap back on--first teaching as an adjunct professor of Classics at FSU, and now full-time as a Specialized Teaching Faculty (I) member in Classics, also at FSU. I've also returned to the Mediterranean to participate in archaeological fieldwork projects--this time, in the Landscape Archaeology of Southwest Sardinia (LASS). The adventure continues!
This website contains information and documents on my current and past research. You can follow the link at the top to my teaching portfolio, where you can find my teaching philosophy statement, reflections on pedagogical endeavors, and sample syllabi and exercises. You can download my resume by clicking here, or you can view my curriculum vitae and track it spatially on the web map, below. Happy reading, and please feel free to contact me!
